Shipping a car to Le Havre, France? Let K International Transport arrange it for you!
Exporting your vehicle from the United States to France can be a headache, but using a Federal Maritime Commission licensed international transport company for cars will make the process much easier. Shipping a car internationally begins with an international car shipping quote for transporting your vehicle to a port in the country of destination (e.g. shipping an Audi A4 to Le Havre, France) once you tell us what vehicle you want to export from the United States and where it will start its trip we can get to work on an overseas car shipping quote for you.
K International Transport can transport the Audi A4 you've purchased online from the seller's door in the United States to the port of your choosing in Europe. Base ports are the ones most commonly serviced by Roll on / Roll off vessels and include: Antwerp, Belgium; Le Havre, France; Bremerhaven, Germany; and Southampton, United Kingdom.
K International Transport is a licensed Freight Forwarder and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and acts as the architect of your shipment. We also routinely handle United States export customs clearance for cars. K International Transport will bring to you a rate quotation for shipping your Audi A4 to Le Havre, France, other locations in Europe, or any other port around the world. If our international car shipping quote is to your liking we will guide you through the shipment of your vehicle from its location of origin up to port of discharge, and can even give recommendations for agents at the final destination. If you have concerns about our terms, conditions, or the rate itself, we appreciate feedback and are glad to answer any questions. How to prepare a car for international shipment on a Roll On / Roll Off Vessel
The international shipping process always goes more smoothly when our customers have all the information they need in order to prepare their vehicles and documents before deadlines come too close for comfort. Please take a look at the following list that gives a few pointers to keep in mind when you want to ship a car overseas:
- All vehicles should be delivered with no more than ¼ tank of gas.
- Please make sure the vehicle is clean, free of dirt, and does not have any leaks. The steamship line has the right to refuse cargo not up to its standards of safety.
- If you are shipping your vehicle abroad via roll-on / roll-off overseas car transport service, you must ensure that there are no personal effects left inside the vehicle.
- Having the right insurance coverage is for your benefit in the event of loss or damage to your vehicle while in transit. K International is happy to add either "Total Loss / F.P.A" or "All-Risk" Marine insurance to your quotation.
- Weigh your shipping options carefully. For example, if you plan to ship personal effects to the destination as well, it is likely more economical to ship them together with the vehicle inside a container than shipping them separately.
- Please prepare all required documents required clear your vehicle with United States Export Customs. Documents we will need include the vehicle's original title, notarized bill of sale, and, if your vehicle has a lien on it, a letter from the lien holder on their official stationery authorizing export.

What are the dimensions of a 45' Shipping Container?
If you are shipping cargo that has a length that exceeds the 40' length of a container, one of the options for international container shipping are 45' containers.
![]() |
| The 45' Container one the bottom is 5' longer than the 40' containers above it. |
45' Containers have a much lower availability when compared to other container types, and not all terminals have them. Containerized transport is the world standard for international ocean freight.
There are a few different types of containers. The important dimensions for 45' containers are as follows:
There are a few other types of containers (e.g. refrigerated, Flat Rack, Open Top), but the above covers the dimensions of 45' containers.
The size and weight of your cargo is important in the quotation process, and will change the best container to use. Be wary when a freight forwarder does not ask about weight and dimensions before giving you what appears to be a great quote. Once they have control of your cargo, they will continue adding fees as the shipment continues, since they did not advise you correctly from the start. K International Transport gives you an accurate quote so you can budget accurately.

Looks Can Be Deceiving...How International Companies Save Money Purchasing and Shipping Refurbished Machinery
The old English adage says, "Don't judge a book by its cover," or in other words, looks can be deceiving. In international shipping we experience this on a daily basis - what looks like an old rusted excavator or a worthless, dusty wire drawing machinery can actually be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Every year, buyers all over the world search the USA for used factory machinery and equipment.
Refurbished may sound like a dirty word, but to foreign buyers the cost-saving advantage of refurbished machinery and equipment is well worth the risk. For example, a customer in Korea is looking for some equipment to build a steel mill factory. A factory in Ohio has just finished renovating their new facility and no longer have use for their old equipment. The old equipment is still in good condition and has at least another 10-15 years of productivity left if it is refurbished. Furthermore, the equipment is normally from a top manufacturer and is of excellent quality. The customer in Korea realizes they can buy the equipment from the Ohio factory and ship it to Korea for a fraction of the cost of buying new equipment - they could even save millions of dollars! So what is the Ohio factory and the Korean customer to do?....make a deal! The factory gets rid of the old machinery and the Korean customer can save money building their factory with the refurbished machinery. Everyone benefits.
When it comes to shipping refurbished machinery and equipment overseas you want to make sure you use a international shipping company with experience shipping used refurbished machinery. Oftentimes when a factory is dismantled or a customer buys used drawing machinery or a used block making machinery, they need a company that can handle large static equipment. When shipping used machinery you need an international shipping company that can:

How do I ship cars like the Infiniti JX to the Middle East and other places around the world?
Many people looking to ship cars to the Middle East come to K International Transport to get rate quotations for international car shipping. Collectors located in the Middle East who purchase classic cars in the United States have them shipped to places like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai, Iraq, Lebanon, and Egypt, while others want something more modern, and ask us how to ship an Infiniti JX from the United States to the Middle East with minimal hassle.

| The 2013 Infiiniti JX will perform as well in the Middle East as it does in North America! |
Overseas car shipping by container is the more secure option, but is less economical than overseas car shipping via Roll On / Roll Off service, which is very secure in its own right. Roll On / Roll Off vessels are specially designed for transporting cars and trucks overseas; cars are driven onto the ship and stowed under deck, and thus protected from the elements. On the other hand, more ports are serviced by container ships than Ro/Ro vessels, so your shipment method will depend on your destination. For example, Le Havre is the port for Roll On / Roll Off service, but container vessels service other ports like Marseilles, Paris, and Fos-sur-Mer.
K International Transport has been in the business of shipping cars overseas for over 20 years and we would be pleased to give you the best price quote for shipping cars internationally. Please visit our rate request page and fill out our form, give us a call at (212) 267-6400, or send us an email at inquiries@kinternational.com. Alternatively, you can skype us at kinternationalny.
When should I use a Flat Rack container? What is the size of a Flat Rack container?
If you are shipping cargo that has a height that exceeds the height or width of a normal container (Out of Gauge cargo), or cargo that cannot be loaded through the door of a standard container one of the options for international container shipping are Flat Racks. Flat racks are also often used for items that are too heavy for other shipping containers.

The efficiency that characterizes international ocean freight would not be possible without the progression of containerization of cargo. Vessels can be loaded with stacks of containers quickly, maximizing the carrying capacity of the vessels. This also makes it much less difficult to load and unload the vessel at ports by using cranes, and since the containers are inter-modal, they can be loaded onto a truck or train car for inland transportation. Flat racks have a high loading capacity, and are equipped with lashing rings on the side rails.
There are a few different types of containers. The important dimensions for Flat Rack containers are as follows:
