Another Strange Holiday: Roots of International Shipping to the U.S?

One holiday all Americans know about is Christopher Columbus day. We all appreciate the Monday off from work, but do we really stop to think what this holiday is about?

Recently there has been a push to rename Columbus day, "Indigenous People's day" to commemorate all the Native American lives lost when Columbus colonized parts of North America.

However it's not all bad. Certain parts of the Columbian Exchange can be attributed to Columbus's explorations! This in turn greatly affects international shipping services, as they are today!

Columbus's arrival, despite the terrible occurrences it single-handedly caused, set in motion a trade between Europe and the Americas that got us to the global economy we have today. Without this trade, would international shipping companies, like K International Transport, exist today?

K International Transport can help you in numerous ways, including:

  • Shipping from any port in the United States, including New York, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California, and more!
  • If your cargo is located too far from a port city, we can offer our inland trucking and transportation services to transport it to a port before shipping it overseas.
  • Roll-on/roll-off services to transport your automobile or wheeled cargo safely!

International Construction Equipment Shipping to Djibouti!

International shipping has never been easier, and reliable international shipping companies, like K International Transport, can make the process even less stressful!

People interested in overseas shipping might have a specific question to ask:

What are the most accessible ports in each continent?

Well, when shipping construction equipment to East Africa and Ethiopia, you can't go wrong with Djibouti City!

This port in Djibouti City has many notable features, including
  • an immense increase in traffic over the last 30 years
  • the handling of majority of cargo going into Ethiopia through truck and rail service
  • the planned opening of a new container terminal, called the Doraleh Container Terminal. This new terminal is expected to handle approximately 1.5 million containers each year
  • the handling of over 4 million metric tones of non-containerized cargo, this includes international car shipping services and heavy machinery that is shipped to Djibouti on car carrier ro/ro vessels.
In addition to these amazing features, K International Transport can offer tons of international shipping services to ship construction and high heavy equipment, including:

  • Before your construction and high-heavy equipment can be shipped, it will be transported from a warehouse to a port in the United States, like those in New York, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas, or California, depending on where your cargo is located, and where you are shipping.
  • If your cargo is not already located in a port city, no worries! Trustworthy international shipping companies, like K International Transport, offer inland trucking services to get your construction and high-heavy equipment from anywhere in the United States to a port city before being shipped.
  • When your construction equipment is ready to be shipped,  it will be shipped on trailer by roll-on/roll-off vessels, which are used to load wheeled cargo, to its final destination.
  • If you want to ship your cargo in a container, K International Transport offers dismantling services for heavy equipment shipping to make the equipment small enough to be containerized.

Day of the Girl and International Shipping!

There are many holidays people don't know much about. Some are strange, some obscure, and some just fairly new.

One "new" holiday, is the International Day of the Girl. This day occurs annually on October 11th, in observance of the fight for gender equality all over the world, as well as recognition of girls everywhere. This annual holiday and summit is held by the United Nations, and was first created in 2011.

But what does this have to do with international shipping services, and what can K International Transport do to help?

The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization in place to keep the countries of the world coexisting peacefully. This means solving global problems, as well as mediating conflicts.

The International Day of the Girl has a new theme every year. The theme of 2014 is "Empowering Adolescent girls: Ending the cycle of Violence." The summit consisted of a discussion of issues and obstacles girls face, as well as proposed solutions.

Reliable international shipping companies, like K International Transport can help as well! Whether you are shipping overseas or heroically fighting sexism abroad, K International Transport can offer these services:

  • We will ship from any port in the United States, including New York, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California, and more!
  • If your cargo is located too far from a port city, we can offer our inland trucking and transportation services to transport it to a port before shipping it overseas.
  • Roll-on/roll-off services to transport your automobile or wheeled cargo safely!
