What are the dimensions of a 45' Shipping Container?

If you are shipping cargo that has a length that exceeds the 40' length of a container, one of the options for international container shipping are 45' containers.

The 45' Container one the bottom is 5' longer than the 40' containers above it.

45' Containers have a much lower availability when compared to other container types, and not all terminals have them. Containerized transport is the world standard for international ocean freight

There are a few different types of containers. The important dimensions for 45' containers are as follows:
45' High Cube
Inside Length44' 6''13.55 m
Inside Width7' 6''2.33 m
Inside Height8' 10''2.38 m
Door Width7' 6''2.33 m
Door Height8' 4''2.28 m
Capacity3, 037 cubic feet67.67 cubic meters
Tare Weight10, 449 lbs3, 701 kgs
Maximum Cargo61, 200* lbs26, 630* kgs

*Legal weight and weight maximum for steamship line may be lower than this number

There are a few other types of containers (e.g. refrigerated, Flat Rack, Open Top), but the above covers the dimensions of 45' containers.

The size and weight of your cargo is important in the quotation process, and will change the best container to use. Be wary when a freight forwarder does not ask about weight and dimensions before giving you what appears to be a great quote. Once they have control of your cargo, they will continue adding fees as the shipment continues, since they did not advise you correctly from the start. K International Transport gives you an accurate quote so you can budget accurately.
