Five of the Best Car Chase Scenes in Movie History - And How You Can Ship Those Popular Cars Overseas

Nothing beats the excitement of a good action movie.  But not all action movies are good, there are several necessary components for an action movie to work:

First - you obviously need a villain, a hero and a lady in distress
Second - you need a suspense filled plot line that keeps you on the edge of your seat

Third- you need a couple of fast-paced, action filled sequences

In regards to the third requirement, nothing satisfies a movie-goer more than a crazy, action-packed, thrilling car chase scene.  Sure there are the fight scenes, the scenes that add a twist to the plot, or the scenes that give you a glimpse of the handsome hero and beautiful lady in distress.  But nothing makes viewers slightly envious of the perks of being an actor as watching a great car chase scene.  Who doesn't dream of driving through the streets at 100 miles per hour with complete disregard for the rules of the road?

At K International, we know how you feel, we secretly have the same dream.  As a leading international car shipping company, we have car envy every single day!  As a tribute, we honor the top five best car chases in movie history - let us know what you think!

Gone in 60 Seconds

Most movies are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long, so you should have at least a few minutes of action mixed in there somewhere.  The original Gone in 60 Seconds is known as the mother of  all movie car crashes.  Imagine a whopping 34 minutes worth of car chases!  There are a bevy of great vehicles in the movie, but none is as popular as "Eleanor" the 1973 Ford Mustang featured in the movie.   One of the most popular vehicles we ship overseas is the Ford Mustang.  We offer overseas car shipping services for vintage and brand new Ford Mustangs from the United States to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Mediterranean and everywhere else in between!

Check out the trailer for Gone in 60 Seconds to get a glimpse of how the makers of the movie managed to destroy over 90 cars!

Featured in one of the best movie car chase scenes of all time, is Eleanor, a 1973 Ford Mustang.

The Blues Brothers

The next car chase on our list is from The Blues Brothers. The car crashes in the movie even set a world record!  A whopping 103 cars were wrecked during the movie!  This record stood until 2000, when the updated The Blues Brothers movie wrecked 104 cars.  In the movie the car chase includes a scene that takes place in a mall!  The cop cars, aka "Bluesmobiles",  used in the movie were retired Dodge Monaco's. For car collectors, a Dodge Monaco is highly prized, but parts for the vehicle are hard to find.  Today collectors around the world turn to Ford Crown Victoria's instead to get a similar vehicle.  Each year hundreds of Ford Crown Victoria's are shipped overseas to the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, from the United States.

Enjoy the below clip from the movie:

Bullitt

Bullitt is probably one of the most well-known classic car chase scenes in movie history.  The chase takes place through the hilly streets of San Francisco. The chase scene includes the popular actor Steve McQueen burning rubber in a 1968 Ford Mustang GT fastback.  No list of popular movie car chase scenes would be complete without mentioning Bullitt.

Watch the below clip and see if you get motion sickness following this car chase sequence:

The French Connection

The movie The French Connection not only took home the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture in 1971, but it also was further embedded into movie history as containing one of the best car chase scenes.  In the movie one of the main character's "Popeye" grabs a civilian's  1971 Pontiac LeMans and drives through the streets of New York City in hot pursuit of his target.  NYC is a pretty crowded city, so imagine ignoring all rules of the road to film this car chase...

In The French Connection, a 1971 Pontiac LeMans ripped through the rough streets of Brooklyn, NY in hot pursuit of the bad guy

Quantum of Solace

No one drives fast cars like James Bond, so of course he had to be included somewhere on the list.  One of the best car sequences is in the Quantum of Solace movie.  In the movie James Bond navigates the windy roads near Lake Garda Italy in his Aston Martin while being chased by two Alfa Romeos.  In the end, the two Romeos are completely destroyed and James Bond's Aston Martin makes it out a little dusty...but with no major damage.

Car chases bring some of the most exciting action to action films.  So what did you think of our top five picks?

International Car Transport by Air

In an earlier blog we highlighted our overseas vehicle shipping services for vintage, classic and luxury vehicles from the United States. While most customers ship their vehicles in containers or on roll-on roll-off shipping vessels some customers opt to ship their car by air. International car transport by air is the fastest way to ship your car internationally from the United States to various countries around the world. International car shipping by air is also the most expensive way to ship your car! Air freight costs for shipping your vehicle is oftentimes 10-20 times more expensive than shipping your car by ocean
So, who is shipping their car by air?
  • Race car drivers shipping expensive, one-of-a-kind automobiles abroad and who need their cars immediately for their racing event.
  • Vintage, classic and luxury car collectors who want to minimize the risk of damage and receive their one-of-a-kind vehicle as quickly as possible
  • Cars shipped internationally under carnet oftentimes used for international car shows and conventions, vintage and classic car shows, and vintage auto club events.
What are the benefits of international car transport by air?
  • Expedited international automobile shipping means your car will get to its final destination within 1-4 days
  • Protection – automobile airfreight airlines take extra precautions to ensure your car is safely protected during transport and is minimally handled.
  • Airfreight offers international shipping services to more locations including: service to inland points and land-blocked countries not serviced by ocean shipping and service to airports that are closer to the final destination than the major ocean port of that country.
K International Transport can offer inland pick-up at destination for your vehicle and deliver to the nearest departure airport. Inland car trucking service by enclosed car carrier is also available. The customs clearance procedure for international car shipping by air is the same as by ocean- we will need the car's original title and if there is an outstanding balance on your vehicle we will need a lien release letter from the bank.
When it comes to international car transport by air you should not always trust the company offering the cheapest international car shipping rate! Always check your car shipping rate quote - make sure whichever international shipping companies provide you with car shipping quotes confirm they will handle all documentation and inspection requirements including: car customs clearance, hazardous goods declaration form and airline airway bill.
International car shipping by air is a great option for those customers who require expedited auto transport. Moving Abroad? Take your Car and Household Goods with You - International Car and Household Goods Shipping

Moving abroad and not sure if you should take your automobile and household goods with you? K International Transport is able to assist with international automobile shipping from the United States to your new home. Overseas vehicle shipping and household goods shipping to Europe and other worldwide destinations can be a daunting task. There are a number of international car transport issues our customers have dealt with when they have relocated to another country.
First, if you are shipping your car from the United States to Europe most European countries require at the time of importation that you have residence in the country. In order to import your car and household goods without paying any taxes or VAT, some European countries will require ownership of at least six (6) months prior to shipping. To find out the laws and regulations of that country you can visit the local foreign consulate or foreign chamber of commerce in the United States.
The next issue you must deal with when considering international car shipping is local car insurance. Before you can register and drive your car, your new home country may require that you fully insure the car beforehand. You should utilize a European insurance company. You should also check that your car meets the local emissions standards or if you will need to reconfigure your automobile to meet the requirements.
Planning to ship your household goods and your automobile overseas? Consider international container shipping so you can pack your household goods and car together and deal with import customs clearance only once.
Professional international shipping companies such as K International will assist you in your international move and make sure your overseas car transport goes as smoothly as possible. If planning to move abroad avoid unlicensed moving companies who may offer a cheap price in the beginning and then hit you with very expensive fees when your car or household goods arrive at the destination. If interested in learning about our international shipping services contact us – we can provide car shipping quotes and household goods shipping quotes within 24 hours.

Below we answer some common questions associated with the overseas vehicle transport of luxury and antique cars:
Q: I am interested in the international vehicle transport of my one-of-a-kind expensive classic car – but I've never done this before – how is the car shipped? What are the benefits of each type of overseas vehicle shipping methods?
A. International automobile shipping companies offer three methods available for international auto shipping: roll-on roll-off vehicle carrier, ocean container transport and air freight transport.
-Roll-on Roll-off vehicle service is the most economical way to ship your car. On a roll-on roll-off vessel cars are driven onto specialized and modern car carrier vessels and safely secured under the deck of the ship.
-The second and most common method of international car shipping of vintage cars is container shipping. In ocean container transport you car is driven into and then secured inside your own personal container and then sealed to prevent unauthorized personnel from opening the container. All automobiles are professionally loaded at one of our bonded and insured warehouses. We have warehouses located at all the major ocean ports that specialize in the proper loading of automobiles for international auto transport. The ocean container method of international vehicle shipping assures the customer that their car will not be handled again until the container is unloaded at the port of arrival and you do not have to worry about any other cars coming close to your precious cargo. Looking to ship hard to find automobile parts with your luxury vehicle? Container shipping allows you to also load other important items you will need once your car arrives at its overseas destination.
-The third and fastest method to ship a vehicle is by air. Need your vintage classic car right away and do not want the hassle of waiting for ocean transport? Consider shipping your valuable automobile by air. Cars shipped by air are secured below specialized cargo aircraft. The air freight international car shipping method is the most expensive way to transport your vehicle.
Q: I am located overseas and need a company to safely transport my antique car to the port or warehouse – do you offer this service?
A: Inland pick-up is available from anywhere in the continental USA. Our fully insured carriers offer two ways in which to ship your valuable car. The first option is to ship your automobile in an open car carrier. However, for high value cars we always recommend the second inland transport option via a closed car carrier. A closed car carrier is the safest method to transport your vintage car as it shields the car from the elements. We will gladly provide an inland transportation quote for both shipping options.
Q: Do you offer insurance coverage in the event of major damage or loss to my vintage car during international automobile transport?
A: K International offers two types of ocean cargo insurance for international automobile shipping: All Risk Insurance and FPA insurance. All Risk automobile ocean transport insurance covers against risk of physical loss or major damage that may occur during ocean vehicle transport. FPA (free of particular average) insurance covers total losses only due to certain catastrophic perils such, such as sinking of the vessel during international auto shipping. We always recommend ocean cargo insurance to our customers – if interested make sure to indicate your vehicles value to your K International employee
The above are just a few common questions our customers ask when they are looking to ship their vintage, classic, valuable antique cars overseas. As a leading international car shipping company K International is here to offer you the best first class quality service.
