How to Ship to Land-Locked Countries!

Most international shipping companies can help you ship cargo internationally from any port in the United States to almost any port in the world. K International Transport is no different.

But what happens when you want to ship cargo to a country that is land-locked, and has no ports? K International Transport can help with that too!

For example, say you want to ship an automobile to Uzbekistan with K International Transport's overseas car transport services. Uzbekistan is completely landlocked. So what does K International do?

First we ship your car from any port in the United States, including those in New York, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, California, or any other port. Your vehicle is loaded onto the vessel with RoRo shipping, and it is send overseas

If your car is not located near a port city, but instead in Kentucky, for example, you can use our inland trucking and transportation services to transport it to a port before it is shipping overseas.

Next the cargo arrives at a port near the target country. In this case, we might ship your vehicle to a port in the Mediterranean sea, possibly through Port Said, Egypt.

Finally when you're cargo arrives, we will arrange more inland trucking and transportation services to take your automobile from Egypt to a city in Uzbekistan, to its final destination.

Shipping with K International Transport's international shipping services is easy and efficient. Contact us today at 212-267-6400, email us at sales@kinternational.com, or Skype us at kinternationalny.

Ro-Ro Shipping and NYC Ferry!

All international shipping companies and their clients know about roll-on/roll off shipping because it is an efficient way to board cargo onto a vessel before shipping it off to another port.

However, not many people know that there is a very popular ro-ro transport system in New York City!

Of course, we're talking about the Staten Island Ferry!

Although the ferry now only carries passengers going from Staten Island to Manhattan or vice versa, it used to carry automobiles as well!

Before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, you could transport your car from Staten Island to Manhattan for only $3! Your car would be loaded onto the ferry easily because of roll-on/roll-off services, and transported with no hassle.

Although K International Transport cannot get your car on the ferry, we can offer you many other international shipping service to ship your car overseas:

  • International shipping from any port in the United States, including those in New York, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, California, and more!
  • Inland trucking and transportation services if you vehicle is not already located in the port city: we will get it there!

For more information on how K International Transport can ship your car overseas with no hassle on your part, call us today at 212-267-6400, email us at sales@kinternational.com, or Skype us at kinternationalny. Although we can't get your car on the Staten Island Ferry, we can do almost anything else!

Most international shipping companies offer roll-on/roll-off (ro/ro) shipping services to make shipping your cargo fast and efficient.

But what is ro/ro shipping?

Ro/ro vessels have built-in ramps that allow cargo to be wheeled on and off the vessel when in a port. This makes shipping all types of wheeled cargo easy and efficient, including

The Options you have for shipping cars overseas by ocean

K International Transport is an experienced Freight Forwarder and NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier), so if you are looking for an international shipping company for cars that is able to guide you through shipping cars internationally then you have found it. There are two ways to ship your vehicle abroad by ocean transport:

  1. Containerized Shipping
  2. Roll On / Roll Off Shipping
In order to decide between these two methods of shipping vehicles overseas, you should take the following into consideration:
  • How many cars am I shipping?
    • If you are shipping multiple cars we may be able to fit 2 or more of them into a 40'HC shipping container, which may translate into savings on your international shipping price.
  • Where do I want to send my cargo?
    • Roll On / Roll Off vessels do not serve as many ports as container vessels, so if you have a specific port in mind, ask us for the service options there. The extra money it costs to ship by container may be dwarfed by the costs of getting your vehicle from the nearest Roll On / Roll Off port to your final destination.
  • How large is the vehicle I am shipping?
    • Roll On / Roll Off cargo is priced by the total cubic meters of a shipment (or, in the case that tonnage exceeds cubic meters, by the amount of short tons). If your vehicle is nearly as large as a 20' shipping container (dimensions of shipping containers), it may actually be more economical to ship it inside a container. This mostly applies to trucks (lorries) and wheeled construction equipment.
  • Do I need to send personal effects with my vehicle?
    • If you ship a car overseas on a Roll On / Roll Off vessel, every steamship line requires that no personal effects are left in the vehicle, and will reject the car if personal effects are present. So if you are moving or for some other reason have extra things to ship with the vehicle, you will have to send them separately, or put them together in a container.
Both shipping methods are secure, but a container will be sealed by the warehouse and not opened (unless given an intensive inspection by customs) until claimed at the port of discharge.

Another consideration for container shipping is the cost to unload the vehicle and return the empty container at the port of discharge, which are generally not included in our quotations, because the charges would be in the local currency and would have to be paid directly to the terminal/port.

Whichever way you choose to ship your car, motorcycle, truck or bus abroad, K International is glad to advise you and arrange the shipment for you. Please visit our rate request page, email us (inquiries@kinternational.com) or give us a call at (212) 267-6400.

How to prepare a car for international shipment on a Roll On / Roll Off Vessel

The international shipping process always goes more smoothly when our customers have all the information they need in order to prepare their vehicles and documents before deadlines come too close for comfort. Please take a look at the following list that gives a few pointers to keep in mind when you want to ship a car overseas:

- All vehicles should be delivered with no more than ¼ tank of gas.

- Please make sure the vehicle is clean, free of dirt, and does not have any leaks. The steamship line has the right to refuse cargo not up to its standards of safety.

- If you are shipping your vehicle abroad via roll-on / roll-off overseas car transport service, you must ensure that there are no personal effects left inside the vehicle.

- Having the right insurance coverage is for your benefit in the event of loss or damage to your vehicle while in transit. K International is happy to add either "Total Loss / F.P.A" or "All-Risk" Marine insurance to your quotation.

- Weigh your shipping options carefully. For example, if you plan to ship personal effects to the destination as well, it is likely more economical to ship them together with the vehicle inside a container than shipping them separately.

- Please prepare all required documents required clear your vehicle with United States Export Customs. Documents we will need include the vehicle's original title, notarized bill of sale, and, if your vehicle has a lien on it, a letter from the lien holder on their official stationery authorizing export.

Head on over to our international car shipping rate request page and start the international shipping process today! The K International representative that give you your quotation will be assigned to your shipment from start to finish, so you don't have to worry about getting passed from one department to another for the answer to a simple question.

Roll On / Roll Off Shipping - What is it? Why do it?

There are a variety of international shipping methods, each having different strengths depending on what cargo you are shipping overseas. One of the methods that is growing fastest in capacity and popularity is Roll On / Roll Off shipping. These ships have built in ramps that make them particularly suited for shipping cars overseas; the cars can easily be rolled on and rolled off the vessel at the port. The vessels are large and box-like, and the automobiles are driven onto the ship and kept in specially designed holds under the deck, with many features to make carrying many cars, trucks, and other wheeled equipment as efficient and safe as possible. One of these features is extensive fire safety systems.

The main distinction between Roll On / Roll Off vessels and other cargo ships is how cargo is moved on and off the ship. Most other vessels are deemed lift on / lift off because they require use of a crane to take cargo over the side of the ship. When car-makers move inventory between continents, they use Roll On / Roll Off Vessels.

K International Transport has been shipping cars for 2 decades, and even has been referenced by the New York Times in relation to our international car shipping services. Please do not hesitate contact us for more information!

International Project Cargo Shipping Services

Project cargo is the international transport of over-sized, large, heavy and high volume cargo.  K International has several years of experience shipping project cargo including: factory dismantling and shipping, shipping large volumes of over-sized heavy construction equipment, and shipping several containers of equipment at once overseas.  Below we go into detail about the individual international project cargo shipping services we offer to various ports of call throughout the world including Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe, Australia, South America and more.

Among the several international shipping services we offer for project cargo is factory dismantling and shipping.  We can assist you with securing a rigging company to assist with the dismantling, cleaning and preparation of the cargo for international shipping.  We will then have the cargo loaded unto a stepdeck or flatbed trailer for delivery to the port and international ocean shipping via container, flatrack, breakbulk or roll-on / roll-off service from the United States to the final destination.  Our logistics team also keeps track of all pieces as they are dismantled and provides detailed and accurate record keeping to ensure that you receive all pieces on the other side.

Factory and equipment dismantling is possible with the right rigging company and overseas shipping company.  The above is a picture of a factory dismantle project we worked on from the United States to Korea.

Have a large overseas building project and need heavy-duty and reliable construction and high-heavy equipment?  Savvy overseas construction equipment buyers know - the USA has one of the most reliable markets for used heavy equipment machinery.  We have moved several construction equipment pieces at the same time and have worked with very large machinery.   As we've mentioned before, high heavy construction equipment shipping is one of our specialties and we provide some of the best and most affordable heavy equipment shipping services from the United States.
This is a serious heavy-duty articulated dump truck !  We provide the best in international heavy equipment shipping.  Only trust freight forwarders and overseas shipping companies with experience dealing with oversized cargo.

We also handle project cargo shipping in ocean containers.  We mentioned how we can help you dismantle factories and move large volumes of heavy machinery, but what happens to all those spare parts and smaller items that you will need shipped also?  This is where ocean container shipping is very useful!  We will make sure that all pieces of equipment are dismantled and shipped whether it's a big piece or a small piece.

For more information on the how we handle construction equipment shipping visit our "High-Heavy / Construction Equipment Shipping Information" page.  To receive rates for heavy construction equipment shipping visit our rate request page and we will respond to you within 1-2 business days.
